Race 7
Top Pick: #3 Hurricane Lassie (6/5) deserves favoritism again. She is 4-for-4 already in 2026, 5-for-5 at Fonner, and last out she once again showed why she is such a reliable local horse: tactical speed, professionalism, and the ability to finish. If she runs back to that Feb. 28 effort, they are all likely running for second. The only concern is short price, because at some point even a very good horse can get softened up if someone decides to take her on early.
Race 2
Upset Pick: #6 El Sargento (6/1) makes some sense if you want to beat the top two in this 4f dash. He ran 3rd against similar at Fonner on Feb. 15, and while these short sprints usually go to the pure speed, he has enough pace to stay close without needing the lead. If Aztec Gem and Lifelike hook up harder than expected, El Sargento could be the one picking up the pieces at a square number.
